Phew! It took about 4 months of hard work but we finally finished phase 2 of one of our favorite client’s websites: Little Diamond Models.

This is a huge website with a ton of great features. We started this project not even a year ago and it already sports a monthly visitor volume of nearly 20,000. What a success story!. The site soaks up nearly 2 GB of bandwidth each and every day, that’s a lot of downloading and uploading. This was up to 6 GB at one point….that a bigga pizza pie!

We think the best highlights were the casting call feature that allows boutiques to post calls to models to meet certain photo criteria. Pet and photographer bookings and we upgraded several modules to make them much faster.

So here we are, Tom Petty on the radio, pretzels spilled on the desk, a glass of Publix sweet tea, and we’re starting to plan out phase 3. Lots of good features for models, boutiques, pet models, photographers and visitors of all kinds. We plan on this taking nearly as long as phase 2 but good things come to those who wait. Little by little, the site grows and over time we come out with a hum-zinger of a website.

This service connects lawyers with lawyers that pay referral fees for, you guessed it, referrals. The website features custom attorney profiles, administrative control over practice areas and geographical data….all kinds of neat things really. Admins can view stats about who has registered, subscriptions and who is contacting who. A quick and easy checkout process allows attorneys who sign up to be listed on the website to upgrade or add subscriptions with little effort.

We get the question all the time: How do I sell advertising on my website?

First of all, get some traffic. You can’t simply make a website, put some ads on it and watch the checks roll in. It just doesn’t, and will never, work that way. You have to have some serious online presence to get serious advertisers paying you good money to put their content on your website. And we’re not talking about a few hundred hits a month. This is big-time territory where 20,000 new visitors per month is the norm and still kind of on the low side.

In our experience as Gainesville Web Designers, the rule seems to be that you really need a certain “type” of website to sell web advertising. A site for a local attorney or retail shop is probably not going to get the amount of traffic needed to make money from ads.

No matter what the subject of your website though, the more you market it ITSELF, the more popular it will become. The more traffic you get, the better of you’ll be anyway. Think about it though. Is the goal of your website to make money off of advertising? or is it to sell a product or service? It just might be that your efforts are better spent marketing your specialty rather than cluttering your site with advertising.

Mobile sites are a great way to tap into a new resource for many businesses. More and more people are using their phones as their primary device for Internet access. Phones are more computers than they are phones these days. A mobile website is a lightweight version of your current website that is designed specifically to fit the various screens and resolutions of mobile devices.

Mobile websites need to be fast, completely optimized and easily accessible by mobile users. There are literally dozens of mobile devices out there so the challenge is unique when attempting to build a cross-platform design that will display correctly on each type of phone, tablet, or whatever mobile device people are using.

Mobile browsers outnumber traditional browsers (as in people) by 3 to 1. So to potential speaks for itself.

If you were wondering, the answer is yes, we build mobile websites. We do a great job too. Pat pat pat. Something interesting with our mobile websites is our custom redirection script. This script is installed on your current website and will detect if a user is accessing your website through a mobile device. If they are, the user is automatically redirected to the mobile website. Bingo bango.
